WHAT DID WI-FI USED TO BE CALLED?

The predecessor of Wi-Fi was called WaveLAN. Subsequent names were FlankSpeed, DragonFly, WECA, and IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence, before the more consumer-friendly name of Wi-Fi was adopted. Aren’t you glad you don’t have to ask for a coffee shop’s IEEE 802.11b Direct Sequence password?
